The Opening Event of the 75th Anniversary Season
Playreading: Geneva (Acts I & II) - by G.B. Shaw
In 1938, Shaw wrote the satire Geneva about the failing League of Nations and its sister agencies. The then five-year-old GEDS contacted Shaw about producing the play here. Permission and the copy of the play were received directly from Shaw. The production in London was in November and GEDS produced the play in December. In addition, GEDS received a letter from Shaw indicating additional cuts that should be made so that people could "get away in time to catch suburban trains". |
