Some of you will remember La Liberté, the beautiful 17th Century Galley reproduction, when she was being built, 12 years ago, in Morges as a reinsertion project. Some may have even visited the worksite and saw the progress on recreating a 55 metre galley (more photos at www.galere.ch).
She rarely comes to our end of the lake, but your illustrious GEDS & GAOS Committees decided that to see it again and actually get to sail on it, was a wonderful idea and have set it up for the afternoon of 21st July. The ship will be under sail (assuming adequate wind); rowing oars and motors also are available.
This will be a joint social event between GEDS and GAOS and also in conjunction with YCC (Yachting Club de CERN) to cover the not inconsiderable costs. The ship will sail empty from Morges to Coppet, pick up GEDS and GAOS members and guests at 14.00 and progress to Geneva, Eaux-Vives. The YCC trip will depart at 16.00 from Eaux-Vives back to Coppet by around 17.30 (with easy trains back to Geneva). All members and their friends are welcome.
In conjunction with YCC, it is also possible to get a reduced rate return trip (Coppet > Eaux Vives > Coppet). So, reserve the 21st July afternoon for a memorable experience! Hope to see you on this trip! |
